REVIEW

The Grand Oasis Cancun has a great layout of the resort, and being home to 3 different parts on the property, with over 1000 rooms, there is a lot of people to meet, tons of activities to do, and several places to eat at. The beach was really nice and the water was clear; there is a lot more space on the beach than most resorts and being in the Hotel Zone, you can walk up and down the beach safely if you desire. You could always find a seat on the beach or at the pool which was great! The cuisine for the most part was good – some of the places stood out over the others (Sevilla, Rodizzio, & La Luna Italian), the downside was there was a lot of people and most of the time there was a slight wait. In addition, I would suggest staying at The Pyramid section of the resort, as you have access to 4 exclusive dining options that the rest of the resort is unable to eat at. And from the looks of it, the experiences and the cuisine there was at another level of luxury.

Interested in nightlife? The overall scene at the hotel was okay – 3 different areas, one with live music, one with a show that turned into a dance floor, and then another lounge/club type, all on the resort. But downtown Cancun is a short 15-minute ride from the resort and they have regular transfer pick-ups from the resort to downtown. I would suggest The City nightclub as it was humongous and at an amazing atmosphere. Next to it, there is Mandala & Cocobongo in case you go downtown multiple evenings.

Two downsides to the resort which bothered me: 1) you had to pay for Wi-Fi (yes, seriously…so much for “All-Inclusive”) and 2) they make you pay for extra water outside them refiling your fridge daily. For some people those may be small things – for me, it definitely had an impression. Overall, definitely more of a party-type resort, Summer or Spring Break trip with the fellas or girlfriends, and a bachelor/bachelorette trip location (we saw several of these groups during our stay). Not a bad place for the price, but it all depends on what you desire and this had some interesting cons in the mix.
